Doctor Who Christmas Special Review: Last Christmas Blog

Hi Everyone! 🙂

Welcome to the very first blog of 2015 and this month is going to be a busy one with quite a few blogs.

On Thursday 25th December 2014 (Christmas Day) I watched the highly anticipated Christmas Special of Doctor Who starring Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) , Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) and Nick Frost as Santa Claus.

I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and liked the dream within a dream concept. It reminded me about the film Inception and loved the setting of the North Pole.

I loved the final goodbye between Clara and Danny Pink even though it was a dream and Santa Claus was a complete and utter Bad Ass (a bit like the Doctor no?)

The Dream Crabs were scary and who would like their brains turned into mush?

The episode does question about the difference between dreams and reality very well but I was wondering about the last scene whether it was real or not. That last scene with the Tangerine, could possibly refer that Santa does exist in the Doctor Who Universe (see Christmas Special of 2010 where Matt Smith shoes picture of him, Frank Sinatra and Santa hanging out).

Steven Moffat seems to confirm that the last scene was real and we have to believe him on this one.

The only downside was whether we will ever see Shona again (she was brilliant!)

My rating for the episode was 9 out of 10.

I cannot wait to see Series 9 in Autumn 2015 with the first episode called “The Magician’s Apprentice.”
